Taper notes: "IThis recording is dedicated to my friend Navigator, who
for the sake of his wife had to attend a Bon Jovi concert nearby (cf. Dave's
comments at the beginning of 'Take No Prisoners'.)
Thanks to Bon Jovi, the traffic was appalling, and it took me 1.5 hours to
complete a journey that usually takes 30 minutes. Nonetheless, I got there
in plenty of time, having been prompted to head to the venue early by three
previous nightmares in which I arrived near the end of the set.
The boys were in fine form, even better than last year, and it was great to
see Junior grooving along cheerfully. The Hordern has notoriously bad
acoustics but the sound was very good, perhaps because curtains had been
installed in front of the side stands. My only complaint is that Chris
Broderick's rhythm guitar was extremely low in the mix.
I had to move around a little to avoid phasing and talkers, but I'm very
happy with how this recording came out. I hope you will be too!" |
